چکیده
We present an engaging levitation experiment that students can perform at home or in a simple laboratory using everyday objects. A cork, modified to be slightly denser than water, is placed jug containing tap water and coarse kitchen salt delivered the bottom without stirring. The gradually diffuses determines stable density stratification of layers being top ones. During dissolution salt, cork slowly rises increasing height, where any instant its balanced by surrounding water. If gently pushed off temporary equilibrium position, it experiences restoring force starts oscillate. Students many different measurements phenomena involved tackle non-trivial physical issues related behaviour macroscopic body immersed stratified fluid. Rigidity and Irregularity Effect on Surface Wave Propagation in a Fluid Saturated Porous Layer
The propagation of surface waves in a fluid- saturated porous isotropic layer over a semi-infinite homogeneous elastic medium with an irregularity for free and rigid interfaces have been studied. The rectangular irregularity has been taken in the half-space. The dispersion equation for Love waves is derived by simple mathematical techniques followed by Fourier transformations. It can be seen t...
متن کاملSecularly growing oscillations in a stratified rotating fluid
A simple exact solution of the Boussinesq equations of motion, thermal energy, and mass conservation is obtained for an oscillatory flow regime in a stably stratified rotating fluid. The flow is unbounded and characterized by velocity gradients that vary with time but are spatially uniform—the basic state of Craik-Criminale flows. The solution describes an oscillatory convergent-divergent flow ...
متن کاملPlane Wave Propagation Through a Planer Slab
An approximation technique is considered for computing transmission and reflection coefficients for propagation of an elastic pulse through a planar slab of finite width. The propagation of elastic pulse through a planar slab is derived from first principles using straightforward time-dependent method. The paper ends with calculations of enhancement factor for the elastic plane wave and it is s...

متن کاملLongitudinal Wave Propagation Analysis of Stationary and Axially Moving Carbon Nanotubes Conveying Fluid
In this study, the effect of small-scale of both nanostructure and nano-fluid flowing through it on the natural frequency and longitudinal wave propagation are investigated. Here, the stationary and axially moving single-walled carbon nanotube conveying fluid are studied. The boundary conditions for the stationary nanotube is considering clamped-clamped and pined-pined and for the axially movin...
